Individual Sessions

One-on-one sessions are often the most popular choice for those who may be new to the therapeutic process. Individual sessions allow time and space for rapport building between client and therapist.

Sessions will focus on understanding your history while creating movement toward stated goals and the life you want. For example, this space may be used for problem solving, coaching, job performance enhancement, and building resiliency during difficult life circumstances. A joint approach is vital to safely process difficult events and to move forward into change.

Together we will determine what course is the right one for you.

Group Therapy

Groups provide support, they can propel you forward when feeling “stuck,” promote social skills and cost less than individual counseling.

Groups can often be a more affordable option for clients, while providing a deeply supportive environments of peers. Groups often evolve into a space of validation, safe emotional expression, and purposeful non-judgement.

Some suggested topics: Group or team challenges, mindfulness meditation, grief/loss recovery, moral injury, stress management, social anxiety, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)- skills training in distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness

Outdoor Therapy

In addition to traditional in office sessions, Dr. Bernard offers clients the chance to experience therapy in nature. Some individuals find this process more effective and comfortable. Otherwise known as wilderness therapy, this is an evidenced-based approach to behavioral health. Together we are active, balancing mind and body wellness.

This could be a seated chat by a lake, a walk along a local trail, or more rigorous hike. Success in wilderness therapy is found when mental health treatment meets movement of our bodies with the grounding of mother nature.
